I want to go to there. Reading, writing, photography, design, music and love. Wes Anderson Art Show in NYC. August 10, 2015. I have been watching San Francisco’s Spoke Art Gallery. Put on annual Wes Anderson-themed art shows enviously. My favourite director PLUS really great art! When would I get the chance to see one? Finally this weekend, they brought their sixth annual Wes Anderson art show to NYC at the Joseph Gross Gallery. Needless to say, a babysitter was booked and I went to town on that show.

I want to go to there. Reading, writing, photography, design, music and love. Another one escapes NYC! February 25, 2015 1 Comment. New York is losing a wonderful collection of people to Nashville today – my good friends Kate and Bryan and their “menagerie”. Kate and I met in person in 2007 during my first visit to New York. We both worked for The Agency Group. We started to become actual “adults”. We saw each other get married – they even asked me to be their wedding. No matter what the activity (or sta...

I want to go to there. Reading, writing, photography, design, music and love. Henry is 18 Months Old! May 4, 2015. As of this weekend, our little dude is officially a year and a half! Since trucks are pretty much Henry’s favourite thing in the world, we celebrated by taking him on a subway ride to Touch A Truck. In Prospect Park on Saturday. He has this adorable noise he makes when he thinks an animal is cute which he pairs with lifting one shoulder to his ear, as if he’s imagining hugging it. ...Where w...

I want to go to there. Reading, writing, photography, design, music and love. March 12, 2015. It’s been a few months in between Henry updates, so after taking the first DSLR photos I’ve been able to snap of him since he started walking, I thought this would be a good time for one! Little Hank here is about 16.5 months old. His baby days are long gone! We are currently in an exhausted limbo, waiting for his final fourth teeth, the incisors, to come in. Early mornings and midnight wakings are our curre...

I want to go to there. Reading, writing, photography, design, music and love. Kate and Bryan Get Married. December 9, 2012 4 Comments. After being engaged for over 3 years, two of my favourite New Yorkers finally tied the knot last month at City Hall! We all met at City Hall around 2:00. Bryan’s brother was their witness. The place was packed so we entertained ourselves for an hour. It was much busier than when Nick and I were married around noon on a Thursday. As always, it was so fun seeing all...The c...

Well hello there!: June 2012
http://musingsandnonsense.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Saturday, June 2, 2012. Hey Look, It's June! A recap of the last few months. Well, looks like my sabbatical from blogging went into full effect. for a little longer than anticipated. Whoopsie! As usual, when I take a long break, lot so of things happen in my real life, so I needed some time to get those things in order before I started writing again. Let's see, where shall I start? I'm thinking a quick summary of things that have happened would be a good starting point. Happy June, everyone!

Wednesday, January 18, 2012. SOPA and PIPA: Please Tell Congress Not to Censor the Web. As much as I wanted and tried to darken Musings and Nonsense in support of SOPA and PIPA, I could not figure out how to make it work for the Blogger platform. (On that note, I am going to be switching from Blogger, my home for quite some time, to Wordpress in the next few months.). Instead, I'll still support it (I did darken my personal portfolio website, www.courtneyallisonbrown.com. To sign the petition. That being...

Well hello there!: December 2011
http://musingsandnonsense.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
Friday, December 30, 2011. Today is New Year's Eve Eve. Tomorrow we leave for four work-free days in Jekyll Island, GA - a much needed respite from the daily grind. 2011 was a very "full" year. Full of extremes - both good and bad. It's been a year of change for Jesse and I to say the least, some of which I've shared here, a lot of which is too personal to share outside of my closest friends and family. I must admit, I get a little choked up when I think back on a lot of what has occurred. Between the ru...

http://musingsandnonsense.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Wednesday, February 15, 2012. Things have been quiet here in the blog land of Musings and Nonsense. 2012 has brought about a lot of interesting situations and experiences - and it's only mid-February! Lots of good, lots of flux and lots of unknowns, but overall, everything is good and there is lots more to come. I'm just not quite ready to share these things with the world. That being said, there are also going to be some changes for my sweet sweet blog. See y'all on the flip-side. Design in my home.
Career in (Re)Focus - Well Rounded NY

Helping you come to terms (and term) with your pregnancy in the city. Sometimes after pushing baby out, you get an extra push to do something you’re truly passionate about. On a snowy Thursday morning in NYC, I bundle-up my three-month-old daughter, Hadley, and head out to a mom’s group on the Upper West Side. Within a few minutes I find myself next to someone I’ve never met and we start chatting the typical mom talk. Conversation naturally turns to the question: What do you do? Let’s face it — Tow...

Well hello there!: Holidays in Full Effect
http://musingsandnonsense.blogspot.com/2011/12/holidays-in-full-effect.html
Tuesday, December 27, 2011. Holidays in Full Effect. Is it just me, or is the holiday season flying by? Between the rush of crazy busy days and planning for my parents to be with us during Christmas, the last month and a half blew by and I feel like I totally missed Christmas. I suppose the fact that I had a nasty cold from the Wednesday before Christmas until now that is still hanging out, didn't help since I was in a Thera-flu induced stupor most of the time. Also, cute photo of you and the man! Profes...

http://musingsandnonsense.blogspot.com/2011/12/ready-for-holidays.html
Monday, December 12, 2011. Ready for the Holidays. Well, our home is officially decorated and ready for the holidays. This year, Jesse and I will be hosting our first Christmas. Both my parents and his, as well as his sister and potentially some of our friends will be coming to our home for Christmas dinner. We've started planning our menu and are really excited about the festivities and finally being able to host a holiday celebration in our own home now that our families are closer by. Art and General Happenings. March 29, 2011. I moved out of my old apartment and in with the boy recently – it was one of the better apartments I’ve had in this city (Ever since moving here in 1998, I’m perpetually moving…I believe I’ve moved 10 times in 12 years. I’m a damn nomad! My last apartment was pretty nice – 1 bedroom on the 2nd floor of a large victorian house… big balcony, nice galley kitchen, high ceilings and a lot of charm. Why is this the standard? It’s kind of dumb. We accidentally painted...

MotivatED - Stories of Teaching and Learning. Tuesday, August 11, 2015. Planning, Organizing and Prioritizing. So as I reflect on the past school year, here are some of the things that I am taking away. You are not alone. Reach out. Be vulnerable. Ask for help. Try something that scares you a little bit. Be brave. Look for the positives in each day, and thank the Lord for those blessings. When facing the trials that are sure to come, bring them to the foot of the Cross. There will be difficult days. ...

I want to go to there. Reading, writing, photography, design, music and love. One Month With Charlie. August 10, 2017. Charlie is one month old today! Here’s what he (and we) have been up to. The time between babysitter leaving and Nick getting home where I have both kids usually involves a TV break (so we can all hang out on the couch happily) or me carrying Charlie around in the Ergo. Charlie is a champ when it comes to eating, so he’s grown a ton in the past month. His head and face are fill...Also hi...

Blog for my photography experience at RCC. July 27, 2013. February 27, 2013. These lovely Guinea pigs were sooo adorable, I couldn’t pass up a shoot with them. They were quick little buggers though. Every time I would get down on the ground to shoot, they’d already be running away. February 27, 2013. This was a family shoot inside their home. I’m surprised how good they came out with only one Monolight set on Model light, since the flash on it wouldn’t sync right. February 13, 2013. February 6, 2013.
