Horticulturally Hopeless

Gardening 101 - Year 2. You would think, that after attempting a garden one year, I would be better prepared (or at least trained) for a second year. So far, I've planted Dahlia bulbs, yellow roses (mini), pansies (purple and orangey-yellow), geraniums (red and white), three other types of blubs which I can't for the life of me think of what they are at the moment, and a bleeding heart. I would like to get a strawberry plant (or two) and a rhubarb plant. Garden Update: Mostly Green With a Dash of Red.

Horticulturally Hopeless: Butterflies...

http://horticulturallyhopeless.blogspot.com/2010/05/butterflies.html

Went for a walk with Charlie (the dog) this afternoon. I should. Have been out planting, but it's suppose to climb to the 20s tomorrow and Sunday, so I put it off until then. There is an old railway line that's been turned into a nice little wooded path, which is where we went. As Charlie sniffed and, ah .watered. everything ;-), I saw 5 (! Butterflies. I think they were (thanks to wiki. Milbert's Tortoiseshell, but my butterfly identification is apparently not up to par. I'm single, 30 (eek! Image: Migr...

Or something like that ;-). I have something growing! Whether it's the seeds I planted, I'm not quite sure (the black thumb/gardening idiot thing at work), but something's growing! And cucumber seedlings with mushrooms, of course. ;-). At a certain point in the journey all you can do is laugh.". Last day of vacation (sigh.). So why did the very last day. Of my vacation turn out to have the nicest weather? It probably reached high-teens to mid-twenties, at least. Grrr. Chives - 1 row. Parsley - 1 row.

Black Cats n' Broomsticks. A place to organize my Book of Shadows. My BOS - the book. I've (finally) decided on a binder for my BOS - more specifically, a white scrapbook album:. It has the convenience of a binder (removing, adding, shuffling, etc.), but (though I hate to say it) a little more pretty. I'm going to decorate the cover with a celtic-ish tree of life:. Black Cats n' Broomsticks. A place to organize my Book of Shadows. Got my hands dirty this evening (until the solar lights came on - it was waaay too cold to be out gardening this morning and afternoon! When I plopped 10 bags of soil on the planned shade garden. I have 10 more bags for the planned sunny garden (for veggies and flowers), plus the half-whiskey barrel and an old tomato pot (both for herbs) - I need more! Black Cats n' Broomsticks. A place to organize my Book of Shadows. Warning: this is a rant.or at least starts out that way. I don't normally swear - if I do, it's usually (though not always ;-) "crap on a stick". Sometimes, however, moments call for stronger language. They start early - 7 am I don't appreciate waking up to the sound (and smell - ick! Horticulturally Challenged

A site where the challenges of growing and the resulting failures are collected. Friday, November 14, 2008. Practice what you Preach. There is a myth that if you write about gardens you must have a perfect garden. Alas in my case that is not quite true, but I do make an effort. Nope I now have a soggy pathway to the car, and a slippery slope to the compost area. Maybe there will be time over the weekend to do that chore! Links to this post. Tuesday, October 21, 2008.
