March: Contemporary Art and Public Pedagogy Blog. Monday, March 21, 2011. Blog 7: Making Visible (Background, Part 1). My skin is the color of “ cosmic latte. But all of this is beside the point. Last week during spring break I visited Puerto Rico. As a very fair skinned (and redheaded) continental American, I could almost physically feel that I was expected to act in specific ways, think of specific things and desire specific wants. I was a gringa on vacation. I ordered local dishes like Mofongo. I was ...

March: Contemporary Art and Public Pedagogy Blog. Wednesday, April 27, 2011. Blog 9 process entry: Implementation. Right now I'm working on part of my lesson- making a digitally manipulated photo. I have one half done, but I'm not satisfied with leaving the other face the same as the original. I'm trying a couple of options (putting my face on the female, transferring the male's face onto the female, etc.) and thinking things over. Jan van Eyke, 1434. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Laura Brown, Journalist

Laura Brown, Journalist. When I was 14, I created my own “news network.” It was actually just me on my high school’s intercom – going over the day’s events, news in the community and weather. Sometimes I had a guest. It was those daily five minutes of fame – and experience outside the classroom – that made me discover what I wanted to do. Since high school, I have graduated from St. Thomas University’s journalism program and am now working as a videojournalist for Global News. During my final year at St&...

Tuesday, March 27, 2018. It’s the small things . . . t. Oday I happened upon this photo as I was perusing Pinterest . . . I nearly squealed out loud! I just happen to have the sewing pattern. For this Ceil Chapman design, as well as my very own version of the dress. According to the caption, Jean Patchett's version was worn in a DuPont Orlon ad in 1955.
