Lombok Lullaby | Notes From A Distant Land

https://notesfromadistantland.wordpress.com/2013/07/09/lombok-lullaby

Notes From A Distant Land. Travel, Photography and Life. Asymp; Leave a comment. Lombok, Indonesia has long been known as the island on the other side of Bali. Not any more, I think. Bali is getting more crowded than ever, losing its charm and far far too touristy. Lombok still retains an old world charm on most of its terrain, except maybe for the most touristy part Sengiggi, incidentally the closest part to Bali! Selong Belanak beach, South Lombok. The smiles of children from all over the world | Notes From A Distant Land

Notes From A Distant Land. Travel, Photography and Life. The smiles of children from all over the world. Asymp; 3 Comments. I want to do a happy post today, so I thought of doing one where I wove some stories about the photos of children I’ve taken which feature them smiling. It’s been a long week at work, but my vacation is just a few days away! And I want to put a smile on everyone’s faces today. On a random walkabout at night. Charming French girl I met with her parents in the Imperial Palace. Leave a...

The Culture Wars | Notes From A Distant Land

https://notesfromadistantland.wordpress.com/2013/07/10/the-culture-wars

Notes From A Distant Land. Travel, Photography and Life. Asymp; Leave a comment. In the foreground is Bangrak Firestation, an old somewhat dilapidated building still in use as the area firestation, where the families of the firefighters stay. While its state may be lamented, it has plenty of character and is architecturally unique although inside it leaves much to be desired especially as a living environment. The only thing black and white about such issues is this photograph itself 🙂. Next post →.

Indonesia Culture Parade | Javanese Wanderer

https://javanesewanderer.wordpress.com/2013/06/30/indonesia-cultural-parade

My stories, travel journal and my photo collection. June 30, 2013. The first contingent I had the chance to see is from east Java. java is the most populated island in the country. The red and white strip shirt is most probably from the island Madura. Which is also known for it’s “Sate” and bull-racing competition which is called “Kerapan Sapi”. Maluku is the neighbor province of North Maluku, its capital is Ambon and their traditional clothes, dances and house are similar. The next group was from Bangka...

Princess Diaries

Thursday, April 12, 2012. It's just a ball of cells. It's not even a baby. This child will never have any kind of quality of life. These are some excuses that women use to justify an abortion. They use these excuses because they don't want to admit to what they are really about to do. {murder their unborn child}. Young girls (and even women) sometimes don't realize how traumatic an abortion will be on them. You have to live the rest of your life knowing that it is because of you that your unborn chil...

Notes from a day dream believer

Notes from a day dream believer. It does not do well to dwell on dreams. Sunday, 26 July 2015. So I have a confession. I've been running from this blog for several weeks. By that I mean I've been avoiding it, because I knew that in my next post I'd have to mention graduation (after all, my time at university, and leading up to it has been a constant theme during the past four years of this blog! Because how do I communicate to my family what the past three years in college have meant to me? Which is prob...

Notes from a Defeatist

Notes from a Defeatist. Saturday, November 09, 2013. Morty and Me: Appartment House perform Patterns in a Chromatic Field at the Purcell Room. Patterns in a Chromatic Field. Was the second piece by Morton Feldman I ever heard, and it remains one of my favourites. The first time I encountered it was in Huddersfield. In 1996, in a late-night concert straight after the one that featured the first Feldman piece I'd ever heard, For Samuel Beckett. Is only the second time I've heard it live. It's a more delibe...

Notes from a Devon Village

Monday, October 25, 2010. Not in the mood lately. Just haven't been in the mood to post to this blog lately. I think it's because here is where I loved to write about life with Amy and Ben . and of course now it's just Ben and I. Amy has left such an enormous hole in our lives I think we're still trying to come to terms with her absence. We're feeling like this! I took Ben up to Start Point last week - we walked all the way round which Amy hadn't been able to do for a very long time. In fact she adored s...

notes from a dog walker

Meet the Dog Walker. DINOS: Dogs in Need of Space. What’s a DINOS? Grab a DINOS Badge! To Birdie, With Love. Birdie died this year. We made the decision to let our sweet old girl go on April 4th. Birdie had kidney disease for months, but in the final week of March the disease finally began taking its toll on her little 15 year old body. We didn’t want her to suffer, so we said goodbye. Just a month before that, our cat Gus died suddenly of congestive heart failure. Thank you for letting me share my life ...

Notes from a Dorset Beach. Because writing is fun. How to Review your Twitter Year in 10 Steps. For those of us who forget what happened twelve minutes ago never mind twelve months, trying to sit back and reflect on the year just gone is incredibly difficult to do without a little help.
