PRP3003 – Blogging about Psychology and Education…. March 9, 2012. In Hindsight, Foresight was a Bad Idea. A study funded and published by UCAS (2005) found that generally, A-level predicted grades were less than 50% accurate, with some students being underestimated in the predictions, and some over-estimated. The most accurately predicted grade as an ‘A’ at 59% accurate, but that was probably because you couldn’t predict over an ‘A’ at the time. Journal of Personality and Social Psychology. 42, 566 57.

Letting us know that education does not have to be this strict set of rules of we tell – you listen, but something that could be adapted and work successfully in so many situations with anyone. This week I wanted to bring up the issue of so called soft subjects being discouraged at both GCSE and A-level, including PSYCHOLOGY! Should they still be worth 2-4 GCSEs? If they stayed at the same value then technically you should be able to get into A-level to studied subjects like History, Sports Science and Maths with a qualification in horse care and an A-C grade in one other GCSE....
