Mobile Quilt Fabric Calculator. For Backing, Binding, and Borders. Sunday, April 26, 2009. What would you like to see in QuiltFab 2.0? 10 is already available and will help you determine how much fabric you need for some common backing, binding, and border fabric choices and construction methods. I'm working on version 2.0, and it's coming along nicely. Are there any features you would like to see? Posted by Mary Kay. Note: Only a member of this blog may post a comment. 'Round the Blocks: December 2010
http://roundtheblocks.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Monday, December 27, 2010. BOW #29 Yankee Puzzle. All right, we took a week off for the holiday. Hope yours were all wonderful! Yankee Puzzle is an easy segue from the Hourglass block, as it's just 4 Hourglass blocks, but with 2 different darks on opposite sides of the hourglass, which forms a pinwheel in the middle. For a 12" block you'll need 4 Quarter Square Triangles of each color (paired with a background color). You'll start out with:. 1) 7-1/4" square of Dark 1. 1) 7-1/4" square of Dark 2. Use the...

'Round the Blocks: BOW #1: Bear Paw
http://roundtheblocks.blogspot.com/2010/05/bow-bear-paw.html
Monday, June 7, 2010. BOW #1: Bear Paw. Recently I taught a class on "6 Ways to Do Half-Square Triangles," using a bear paw quilt I designed, "Bears En Pointe." The scrap quilt also uses an alternate chain block (which will appear in a future BOW) in a a diagonal set with a large focus fabric for the setting triangles. The app uses the traditional method- the one I still most often use- for making the half-square triangle units:. 1 Cut light and dark squares. 5 Cut on the drawn line. There are any number...

'Round the Blocks: January 2011
http://roundtheblocks.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Monday, January 31, 2011. I recently had a question from Pamela, a BlockFab user. What is the "6 grid" referring to under the block name? I have seen 3, 4 etc. grid in the patterns.". Good question. Since BlockFab doesn't explain the grid, I'll try and cover it here. Quoting from Jinny Beyer's new book, The Quilters Album of Patchwork Patterns:. Most designs are based on grids made up of equal-sized squares.". If you'd like to learn more about how grids are used by quilters, here are a couple links you m...

'Round the Blocks: February 2011
http://roundtheblocks.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Monday, February 28, 2011. BOW #37 Lady of the Lake. Lady of the Lake is composed of just one, simple unit- the Half Square Triangle, but in 2 sizes. For a 12" finished block you will need:. 1) 8-/12" HST, light and dark. 18) 2-1/2" HST units, light and dark. The diagonal, yin-yang design of this block makes it a perfect candidate for play. You can do all sorts of different arrangements to create completely different looks. This is perfect for a two-color, white and blue quilt. Tuesday, February 22, 2011.
