Our Trip To India

Our Trip To India. Wednesday, June 13, 2007. Day 24 - Delhi and The End. Monday, June 11, 2007. Days 22-23 Tso Moriri and the Tibetan Himalayas. A funny message from the Tso Moriri "Tourist Welcome Association". These road-side messages were funny and everywhere. Terrible translations probably, and almost all designed to encourage people to slow down. My favorite was "Better to be Mr. Late than Late Mr.". Unsure of where to actually put up our tents - especially at Midnight - we found some locals who wer...

Our Trip To India: Days 13-16, Chennai and Wedding

Our Trip To India. Tuesday, June 5, 2007. Days 13-16, Chennai and Wedding. We arrived in Chennai late Thursday night and were welcomed by the Dewans' driver. We just can't thank Erica, Feroz, and Feroz's family enough for letting us stay with them for four nights. We loved getting to know them, and being in someone's home was such a treat. They definitely spoiled us with their food and hospitality. Friday afternoon was our first wedding event - the mehendi ceremony! Here are some pics. Saturday morning, ...

http://www.tikkimasala.blogspot.com/2007/06/days-22-23-tso-moriri-and-tibetan.html

Our Trip To India. Monday, June 11, 2007. Days 22-23 Tso Moriri and the Tibetan Himalayas. Fresh" from our 7 hour trek from Spituk to Stok we got in our jeep headed for Tso Moriri, a mountain lake in Southeastern Jammu and Kashmir. Of course, our guide told us that the trek was only going to be 2-3 hours so by this point we had no water, no food, nothing. Exhausted and starving - we made the long ride to Tso Moriri near the border of Tibet/China. Unsure of where to actually put up our tents - especially ...

Jonathan's travel blog: December 2007

http://jonathantravels.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html

Saturday, December 29, 2007. Day 7: Bodhgaya (23-25 December 2007). So what is Bodhgaya, you ask? As lunchtime approached, I found myself walking through some back fields behind the temples and the main road, in search of the Root Institute for Wisdom Culture. The train arrived with the all-too-common two hours delay. By this point, I was becoming an expert: I had confirmed my waitlist ticket and found my berth assignment only, and I confidently folded down my middle bunk for a rather pleasant night'...

http://jonathantravels.blogspot.com/2007/12/days-4-6-varanasi-23-25-december-2007.html

Saturday, December 29, 2007. Days 4-6: Varanasi (23-25 December 2007). Varanasi. Aka Banaras. Aka Kashi. Ancient city on the Ganges. Holy city. City of Light. I don't think I. By beggars with the ubiquitous extended arm, and by those horribly unhelpful "helpers" offering various pieces information, suggestions, and other unwelcome chatter, all in expectation of a handout. In Bangkok, where these folks are often telling deliberate untruths in hope of luring you their way ("Wat Po closed today! It [beginni...

The Tikki Lounge Book Club. She is too fond of books, and it has turned her brain. (1873) Louisa May Alcott. Tuesday, November 21, 2006. The God of Small Things. I was full of expectations with this book. Not because it was the winner of the booker prize, but because Arundhati Roy is an activist who notes running and writing as her favourite pastimes! So naturally, this is one book I picked on personality alone. Most of it I enjoyed. I give it 3 tiki glasses. Posted by Wanda Ring @ 8:36 PM. Title: The God o...
