What Julia Ate: Hearty Greens Pie

http://whatjuliaate.blogspot.com/2013/12/hearty-greens-pie.html

What we ate, what we are eating and what we will eat one day. Wednesday, December 11, 2013. I used this brilliant pie crust recipe from the NY Times. It comes together so nicely in the food processor, and it was a dream to roll out. You can't imagine how nice and flaky it was! 2 large bunches of greens. A good sized chunk of feta (around 8 ounces, give or take). Preheat oven to 350. Have a glass pie dish at the ready. You can make the greens mixture while the dough is resting in the fridge. Any suggestio...

What Julia Ate: November 2012

http://whatjuliaate.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html

What we ate, what we are eating and what we will eat one day. Friday, November 30, 2012. Today I finished sugaring the Meyer lemon peels I candied, and I started making the next batch of candied peels, those being sour oranges. I almost gave up on them for being too bitter, but the fourth dip in boiling water did the trick and most of the bitterness is gone. But not all! What kind of day did I have today? Well, the above picture looks so tranquil, doesn't it? White whole wheat buttermilk pancakes. We mad...

What Julia Ate: October 2013

http://whatjuliaate.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html

What we ate, what we are eating and what we will eat one day. Wednesday, October 30, 2013. Savory Buttermilk Bread Pudding. I've been singing the praises of buttermilk for a while now ( see here. The above was a mix of challah rolls and a cheddar-jalepeno sourdough loaf. I love buying day-old bread! Savory Buttermilk Bread Pudding. Yields one 3-quart casserole (although I used a 2-qt. and a 1 qt.). 1 large onion, diced. 1 large clove garlic, smashed. 4 ounces of feta. 1/4 cup grated parmesan. 3 In a sepa...

What Julia Ate: May 2013

http://whatjuliaate.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html

What we ate, what we are eating and what we will eat one day. Thursday, May 30, 2013. Fruit Season Has Begun! Whoa It's been a long time! I wasn't really thinking about it until my friend Michael. Politely pointed out that he's a little tired of seeing little red cranberries in a pot (see: last post, or don't, it's been up so long! A friendly nudge is always what I need. I've been doing a bit of traveling and preparing for my third season making jams as Half-Pint Preserves. And don't forget other things ...

The Daze of Sight: A New Venture

http://thedazeofsight.blogspot.com/2011/05/new-venture.html

The Daze of Sight. To keep me in line. Sunday, May 15, 2011. Ok The Grant Park Green Mkt. is opening today and I am to join a new friend there at OUR booth! She will be selling her vegetables and jellies and I will be selling my caramels. Thumpity-thump goes my little heart. Here comes the fear. Why is it I can trust God for anything else except for myself? Why should He want to make me happy? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Atlanta area, Georgia. Two by the Sea: January 2013

http://twobythesea.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html

Sunday, January 27, 2013. Down Under part I. In November I embarked on a three week trip to Australia as I mentioned in my last post. Mindi is a great cook and appreciates good food so I knew I was in good hands. We had a blast! View from the front door on Silver Gull Lane. Newcastle is the nearest large city. Sydney is about 2 hours away. Coal mining is the primary industry in Newcastle. We drove into Newcastle on my first day to run some errands and have lunch. My first meal in Australi...He won't eat ...

The Daze of Sight. To keep me in line. Wednesday, December 30, 2009. Well, here comes 2010. It's been an interesting year. We have two girls homeschooling now, so THAT'S a challenge. Rosa is helping with that a lot, Thank God. I love doing history with Molly! Speaking of God, about a year ago we started attending a church with friends. Like so many things in my life, I loved it and now I'm rather ambivilent. I figure I could do it myself. Hard to find a school though. I love to bake but then I EAT IT!

Wednesday, December 17, 2014. I just like to smile, smiling's my favorite" Buddy the Elf. This year I asked Brian to write our Christmas letter. That is not to say that excitement doesn’t happen here, it is just that usually the excitement is home grown. I’m not even sure my boys could do that successfully. For all of the kids. what julia did

Wednesday, 23 April 2008. Julia read 'Journey into a tiny world'. No end to her fall. The butcher's axe brushed past her and hit the ground close to where she was standing. Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh", squealed Poietin, as she ducked to avoid the sharp blade. A second chop came whistling past her, followed by a third, and a fourth, as the monster got closer. There was nowhere she could run to. There was no escaping the butcher's axe. Poietin was about to become minced protein. That must be heavy!
