beets and bites: Pan-Seared Salmon with Dill Sauce
http://beetsandbites.blogspot.com/2012/01/pan-seared-salmon-with-dill-sauce.html
Adventures in the kitchen and around the world. Pan-Seared Salmon with Dill Sauce. Pan-Seared Salmon with Dill Sauce, Garlic Roast Potatoes and Broccoli. Well surprise, surprise. Here's another fish post, which means yet another salmon post. This is a ridiculously simple dill sauce that you can whip up while the fish is in the pan. It's great for a quick mid-week dinner. The sauce is made with. I've run out of things to say about salmon, so let's let the one line "recipe" speak for itself. Couscous with ...
beets and bites: Lemon Panna Cotta with Blueberry Sauce
http://beetsandbites.blogspot.com/2011/09/lemon-panna-cotta-with-blueberry-sauce.html
Adventures in the kitchen and around the world. Lemon Panna Cotta with Blueberry Sauce. Tips and recipe after the jump. Sheet gelatin is a little tricky to measure. Oftentimes they come in different sizes and recipes won't tell you what size to use. The 10g package I used had 6 sheets. These are the newer "half sized sheets" and are about the size of a hand. I used double the amount called for in the recipe, which was designed for older "full size" sheets. 3 leaves gelatine (full size). Zest of 1 lime.
beets and bites: Sticky Five Spice Ribs with Lemongrass Rice
http://beetsandbites.blogspot.com/2013/07/sticky-five-spice-ribs-with-lemongrass.html
Adventures in the kitchen and around the world. Sticky Five Spice Ribs with Lemongrass Rice. This is a pretty foolproof method to make delicious ribs and all you need is an oven. Aaand a little patience. They are first braised in a flavourful liquid for fall-off-the-bone tenderness, then finished at high heat until they are burnished with sticky glaze. They won't have the smoky grilled flavour that rib aficionados may demand, but I think they're great as they are. Recipe after the jump. 3 tbsp soy sauce.
beets and bites: Mmmmmac and Cheese
http://beetsandbites.blogspot.com/2011/08/mmmmmac-and-cheese.html
Adventures in the kitchen and around the world. It's been oddly cool in Vancouver for the past few days, so I don't feel that mac and cheese is quite so out of place during a season typically filled with light, fresh, zesty summer fare. In all its ooey, gooey glory, this pan of comfort is enjoyed by my family year round (and is one of my grandmother's favourites! 1 pound elbow macaroni or cavatappi. 8 tablespoons (1 stick) unsalted butter, divided. 1/2 cup all-purpose flour. 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg.
beets and bites: I-Can't-Believe-They're-Not-Deep-Fried Baked Samosas
http://beetsandbites.blogspot.com/2009/07/i-cant-believe-theyre-not-deep-fried.html
Adventures in the kitchen and around the world. Enter my favourite substitute for all greasy pastry: phyllo dough! You don't need a lot of butter in between the layers and you still get flaky crispness. There's also no need to deep fry it, and they freeze wonderfully. Make a large batch, stash them in the freezer, and you're always a half hour away from fresh, golden brown and delicious samosas. Some tips for working with phyllo dough:. 2 large potatoes, peeled. 1 cup frozen peas, thawed. 1/2 teaspoon gr...

Wednesday, June 3, 2015. New life for old shit. If you've been tuning in i've mentioned a couple times that i've been cleaning out my closet. I decided to pull all the clothes out and get rid of shit. So i made decisions based on this. A) clothes that no longer reflected my style today. B) worn out shitty looking clothes. C) clothes that hold some connection with emotional baggage. I got that bad chi out of the house. D) colors that don't look good with my new silver hair. I only want clothes that i love.

Beets & Biscuits
May 27, 2010. Oh, where do the days go. I made these lovely scones last Saturday for the Good to the Grain Potluck held at 18 Reasons. In San Francisco. The potluck entailed each of the 25 attendees baking something from the book and bringing it to share, including author Kim Boyce. We then spent the evening trying each others baked treats and discussing the recipes. I can't wait to work my way through the rest of Kim's recipes. A couple good ones that I remember from Saturday are the Olive Oil Cake ...

beets and blue cheese... | simple recipes + ramblings
Beets and blue cheese…. You’re So F#*king Saucy. November 20, 2017. Between kid activities, endless school half days and work kicking into high gear, the last thing on my wish list is holiday menu planning. Yet here we are once again. And while I would love nothing more than skipping the bird for one year and serving poached salmon or a simple risotto, the mere suggestion seems to send everyone into a tizzy. Traditionalists, each and every one of them! Prove that I might be swayed but not strong-armed?

Beets and the bluestocking. Two Years in Ukraine. Tuesday, March 5, 2013. You, in the plural, unlost. In the Jackson Street metro station, a woman shoved coin after coin into the machine. It spat them out as she muttered, furrowed in frustration. “Do you need help? 8221; a man asked. She had put almost 30 dollars on the card and still had a fistful of coins. “. Tak, tak, tak, tak,. 8221; she chattered at him, pressing buttons without understanding—. 8220;Вибачте, що ви хочете зробити? 8221; I asked—.
Beets and Bonbons
Saturday, February 5, 2011. I'm thinking I should rename this blog - Beets, Bonbons and Baby Food! At least it would be a little more relevant to my life right now; I can't remember the last time I ate a beet and I'm certainly not experimenting with new bonbon recipes. ah, motherhood. I am, however, perfecting the technique of steaming and pureeing. I've mastered the Beaba Baby Food Maker - cooking carrots? Fill the water up to level 3. Pears? Saturday, December 11, 2010. So, I'm only about two months be...
